Heartwood

The Mission


This Project is being generously funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission, the Appalachian Regional Commission, Washington County, VA and the Town of Abingdon, VA.  Additional Partners include, Virginia Highlands Community College, 'Round the Mountain: Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Network and The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail.  In addition to the above organizations, the Management Team includes representatives from, the Southwest Virginia Community College, the William King Regional Arts Center, the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, the Virginia Tourism Corporation, the City of Galax, VA, the Crab Orchard Museum, the Barter Theatre and the Virginia Commission to the Arts.  The Management Team provides oversight for the expenditure of funds, planning and design of Heartwood.
